Today the St. Bath Cata Cup 2016 has started. With perfect weather conditions for this eighth edition it already looks like a challenging event again. Check the first report from the Caribbean.
“The first two days, we are expecting winds between 12 and 15 knots, continually strengthening Saturday and Sunday, which is perfect and will allow us to put together a great race program. I was looking at the list of registered boats and the level is very homogenous so I think that we will have a great regatta“, tells Didier Flamme, President of the race committee for the St-Barth Cata Cup.
Each year, the organization is successful in bringing together a good combination of competitors, both amateur and professional. According to Orion Martin, one of the racers representing France, the level will be even more interesting this time. “This year, some bigger names in sailing like Cammas and Besson are not competing, but still the level of Formula 18 racers is very high. We have a couple of World Champions and a lot of teams that have been doing very well during the whole season. I think that this year will be tougher thanprevious editions because all international top dogs are sailing. It will be ‘showtime’ on the water!”
