2012 Worlds in Long Beach : a very promising event
After visiting Alamitos Bay Yacht Club during South California Yachting Association Midwinter Regatta, it clearly appears 2012 F18 Worlds are in a good shape, and that this year edition should be once more a top event in the multihull world.
ABYC does offer superb facilities, and the race management staff does have pretty good knowledge in managing big events, from National Class Championships, ISAF or Olympic qualifiers, to World Championships (Tornado, A Class, Melges 24).
A successful meeting has been held in the cosy ABYC club house, together with Jon Robinson (Commodore), Chris Ericksen (Regatta Chair), Mark Townsend (Race Officer), John Williams (US F18 & IF18CA Vice President) and myself in order to refine the draft Notice of Race, and the final NoR should be published shortly once approved by the World Council.
No doubt all F18 sailors should receive the very same warm welcome I did get from ABYC volunteers and staff, and for the 2012 Worlds to meet the greatest success.
Hoping to see you all numerous here next september,
Olivier Bovyn, IF18CA President
