Final leg of the F18 Raid Worlds lead the 29 teams up to the very centre of Stockholm, close to the famous Wasa Museum, and put the nerves of the top 6 competitors to the test.
Actually, after Day 4, Demesmaeker-Gagliani were leaders a few points ahead Lundqvist-Rosengren, putting these two teams under pressure, but the big drama was about the bronze, when only one point separated two Swedish teams… Linder-Brunnberg needed to have one boat between them and Karlsson-Nordblom to secure Bronze, and for a long time that seemed to work since Linder-Brunnberg were on 4th position and Karlsson-Nordblom were not anywhere close.
But after a spectacular sprint hoisting the gennaker on the last 20 seconds Karlsson-Nordblom surpassed two teams and then gained third place in this F18 Raid World Championship, Linder-Brunnberg finishing 4th. Aussies Burvill-Skewes secured 5th by winning the final leg using their shortened daggerboards (don’t ask why…), just one point ahead the Nordziij’s father & son (NED).
