IF18CA started implementing new certification process early 2023, in order to ease sailors life, final aim being to implement the “I buy it, I use it !” principle through self-certification by builders and sailmakers.
To achieve this, a measurement training session has been held on Worlds spot in Travemünde, where Pierre-Charles Barraud demonstrated the way sails have to be measured prior to be possibly certified by accredited sailmakers.
Random inspection checks will then be conducted among self-certified sails during events, in order to keep the system robust and to preserve fairness among sailors and builders.
Definitely a big step forward for the Class !
