Third Leg: Perros Guirec – Saint Quay Portrieux
Foggy then stormy conditions for the third leg sailed from Perros Guirec to Saint Quay Portrieux, testing competitors nerves.
Third Leg is the longest of the Costarmoricaine Raid, with numerous portions differently oriented to the wind, then solliciting a various range of handling skills.
Actually, after rouding offset mark after the start, leading teams started to put the pedal to the metal, heading Bilzic then Pierre du Chenal, South from Tomé Island.
The fleet was regularly spread arriving to Les Héauts de Bréhat, then rounding Vieille de Loguivy, when the wind came reinforcing after Les Calemarguiers, regrouping most of the boats at Le Taureau mark, where sailors had to deal with a conflict between two different air masses, with 180 degrees difference at 100 meters distance… Unbelievable!
Then it was a sprint up to the finish, 15 boats crossing the line within one minute, same teams remaining in the top five…
