AUS F18 bids to host 2026 Worlds in Jervoise Bay Sailing Club, WA

You may remind our friends of Western Australia have been forced to resign hosting 2022 Worlds in Cruising Yacht Club of Western Australia due to border restrictions put in force by AUS authorities to contain Covid virus.

Fortunately enough, pandemic is now behind us, and the Class is happy to post the excellent bid recently presented on behalf of F18 Australia by new NCA Chair Mark Parker to World Council members present in La Ballena Alegre.

Among many interesting points, you will notice reading the proposed schedule that it will be possible to use Australian Nationals (to be run from Friday 23 to Sunday 25 January) as a preparation to the Worlds to be sailed 30 January-3 February.

Bearing in mind that, when we had to acknoledge 2022 cancellation, we agreed at the same time on the principle that AUS F18 would have absolute priority when bidding again to host our pinnacle event (see article https://www.f18-international.org/aus-f18-forced-to-cancel-2022-worlds-in-western-australia/), we now need for this proposal to be formally accepted by World Council asap, in order to leave to our Australian friends sufficient time to properly prepare the event.

So IF18CA ExCo will promptly manage an electronic ballot to get official approval of this application, according to Constitution article 9.

As a consequence, we will subsequently call for bids to hold 2026 Europeans in the first half of July, at the usual dates we manage Worlds when in Europe.

Frankly speaking, Australian Class Association deserves to host our Worlds, and we rejoice to look forward a great event in Jervoise Bay. May the Fremantle Doctor help us in this task…

Wishing you all fair winds,

Olivier BOVYN
